ABOUT
The Club was formed in September 1999 by local mother Maree Barnes when there was perceived to be a need for a parish-based activity for children in Hawthorn. Children and coaches were recruited from the Parish school, St. Joseph’s, and there were 2 teams in that first season.
From our small beginning, we doubled to 4 teams in 2000 and now field 27 teams, boys and girls, from Under 9’s through to Under 23’s. The growth of the Club has been primarily by word of mouth. Most of our coaches are parents, friends or older brothers and sisters, and the players come from many schools in the Boroondara area.
The Club runs primarily on a voluntary basis, with parents filling the roles of committee members and team managers. The club also employs a club administrator who is responsible for the day-to-day administration.
Part of the Club’s philosophy is that we are about involvement in community activities, giving players and their families a sense of belonging and being part of a supportive community.
